How to change your address on Aadhaar

Of everything you can update on Aadhaar, an address change is the one UIDAI has made genuinely self-service online — no in-person visit required.

You'll need a mobile number already linked to your Aadhaar (for OTP login) and one accepted proof-of-address document. That's it.

Can this be done online?

Fully online

What you'll typically need

  • Proof of Address (POA)

Government fee

₹75 — Demographic (address) update via myAadhaarFree if you do it as a plain 'Document Update' re-upload instead (available via myAadhaar until 14 June 2027), or if bundled with a biometric update.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to visit an Aadhaar centre to change my address?

No — address is the one Aadhaar field UIDAI's current site treats as true online self-service, through the myAadhaar portal.

What if my mobile number isn't linked to my Aadhaar?

You won't be able to log in to myAadhaar to do this online. You'd need to update your mobile number in person first — see our mobile number guide.

Is there a fee?

UIDAI has run fee-relaxation windows for demographic/document updates via myAadhaar — check the current fee on the plan below, since this changes.
